Lesson 2 Basic Facebook Advertising Terminology Facebook Ads Course and Tutorial for 2022

There are many terms and acronyms specific
to online advertising and you'll need to know many of these terms when you get started. Let's go over some of the most important ones
to know. First is Clicks. Clicks are the total number of click actions
that take place on your ad. Depending on what you're promoting, this can
include page likes, clicks to a landing page off your website and even app installs. Next we have Click-Through Rate or CTR. This is a ratio that shows you how often people
who see your ad end up clicking on it. This is a really important metric. It's going to let you know how effective your
ad is and the higher this number, the better your ad is performing. Next, we have impressions. This is how many times your content was displayed
on a screen. Now it has nothing to do with the actions
that people take. It's just going to show you a number so that
you can see how many times your ad has been served. And impressions are built out in a ratio.

So it's Cost per a Thousand impressions or
CPM. So this is the average cost paid to receive
1,000 impressions. So all your metrics are going to be using
this type of ratio or percentage. Next we have Cost per Click or CPC. So this is the amount charged when someone
clicks on an ad. For this metric is calculated as the amount
spent divided by the number of clicks received. Frequency. This is the average number of times an ad
is shown to the same person.

You'll see this number often, and it is really
important to pay attention to. Advertisers often try to cap this at a certain
rate to prevent what's known as ad fatigue. This is people seeing your ad over and over
and over again, and it's just too much for them. Next, we have Return on Ad Spend. This is a total return on ad spend from website
purchases. So you're going to be able to see really clearly
if you spent $100 on Facebook ads, how much of that you've actually made back in website
purchases.

This is one of the most important metrics
when you're using the conversion's objective. Facebook has a really robust advertising glossary. So I really encourage you to check it out
and to get familiar with some of these terms. Of course, the best way is to just get started,
but it is great if you're looking at your reports and you're little unclear on what
frequency is, you can always refer back to this glossary that you see on your screen..
