Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim is a beautiful story about Lisbeth and her wet nurse Mattie. The story is set in Virginia in the nineteenth century where slavery was at it’s can be viewed as the coming of age of Lisbeth and her determination to break away from the norm that isn’t truly right. it also examins the relationship between a child and her caregiver.
