The CDC Foundation’s Combat Coronavirus fundraiser is now live on Facebook.
People can donate and share directly via the page, and they can add Donation stickers to their Stories to help spread the word.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said last week that the company would match up to $10 million in donations apiece to the CDC Foundation and to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund created by the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization.
The CDC Foundation will use the funds to deploy emergency staffing to U.S. public health agencies, secure medical supplies, provide support to vulnerable communities and boost lab capacity.
Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post Tuesday, “We’re continuing to work with health authorities around the world to address the critical shortage of masks and medical supplies. In addition to our other donations, we’re committing $10 million to the CDC Foundation’s Combat Coronavirus fundraiser, which just launched today. All funds will go to fighting the outbreak—including sourcing medical supplies and increasing lab capacity. Thanks to everyone on the front lines fighting this outbreak. #thankshealthheroes.”
